Governor’s water summit to discuss trends, investments in statewide water supply
Idaho governor’s office news release
BOISE – Gov. Brad Little will meet with leaders and stakeholders at the Governor’s Water Summit on Monday, Aug. 7, to discuss trends in Idaho’s water supply.
The summit will take place in the Idaho State Capitol Lincoln Auditorium, located at 700 W. Jefferson St. in Boise, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The event is open to the public and will be live streamed through Idaho in Session, available here. An agenda for the event is available here.
“Water is the foundation of public health, economic prosperity, outdoor recreation, and Idahoans’ overall quality of life. How we manage – or mismanage – our water resources will determine our success or failure as a state,” Little said. “We have made a significant investment in ensuring the long-term viability of Idaho’s water resources. This summit presents an opportunity to do more for the people of Idaho and strengthen our water supply for future generations.”
The Idaho Water Resource Board is holding the summit at the direction of Little to discuss pressing water resource matters across the state. Little will provide introductory remarks before listening to panel discussions moderated by IWRB.
Since taking office, Little has recommended, and the Idaho Legislature has approved, more than $1 billion in additional funding for water-related infrastructure projects.
Through Little’s “Leading Idaho” and “Idaho First” plan, IWRB has received nearly $450 million to modernize water infrastructure statewide – much of which is a century old and in dire need of replacement or repair.
