Dairy Margin Coverage deadline extended

Washington--This just in from the USDA: A one week extension of signups for this years USDA Dairy Margin Coverage program was granted to give dairy producers extra time to enroll in this years farm safety net program.

With the new signup deadline now September 27th. But DMC enrollment for the next calendar year 2020 was originally scheduled to begin on October 7th. So the question for Farm Service Agency administrator Richard Fordyce, will the 2019 Diary margin signup extension delay the start of the 2020 DMC enrollment?

“It will not,” said Fordyce. “So the week extension is about the length we could be extended and not disrupt the 2020 signup so we’re good from that respective."

In either case, Dairy farmers can enroll during the listed 2019 and 2020 signup periods for dairy margin coverage at their Idaho FSA offices.

“As a reminder the 2020 signup period for DMC will being October 7th and it will run through December 13th," said Fordyce
